Hi, does anybody know how to get rid of this layout of the tabs on the iPad? On the iPhone you can but he only options on the iPad are separate tab bar or compact tab bar and these little pages are there no matter what. Even when I erase everything they are there. They fly down and disappear the minute I touch the screen. They actually make me dizzy.
Ahh - you have encountered “the shelf”… a new multi-tasking feature of iPadOS15. You currently have many open Safari Windows.
Tapping the Safari icon summons the shelf view - which will show you a thumbnail image of all the open Windows/instances of the Safari App along the bottom of the screen. Where multiple instances of an App are running, a simple tap of a chosen thumbnail will instantly switch to that window/view. Tapping anywhere else on the screen causes the animated collapse of the shelf view.
For example, if you have three running instances of Safari, tapping the Safari icon will open the shelf with four thumbnails - one thumbnail for each of the three running instances - plus another (with a “+’) with which you can open a New Window/instance of Safari. Simply tapping a thumbnail will switch directly to that running Window/instance. Swiping a thumbnail off the top of the screen will close the associated Safari Window/instance.

It is perhaps worth noting that the shelf is a fundamental element of the revised User Interface - and cannot be disabled.
Regardless, that did away with the annoying screenshot windows open at the bottom of the page that jump away when you touch the screen each time I open safari. It also closed out those safari windows not being used or wanted and were hogging up memory for nothing.
The new pop image iCons at the bottom of safari and email are irritating and useless. I can quickly figure out how many screens I have without this new irritating feature. Please remove this from the OS as it is just one more so called feature/function that I have to navigate around.

Absolutely useless and annoying. Is there a way to rectify this problem permanently? I have tried several ideas and suggestions but, like a bad day - they are still lingering. Would sincerely appreciate any advice that would prevent their reappearance

I have the same problem and want to get rid of these popups. They are very disturbing in my mail and no way to get rid of them.
This is the stupidest feature and totally frustrating. And you can’t disable it? Illogical. Diabolical.

This works for Safari, but has anyone figured out a way to get rid of the annoying thumbnails in Mail?
I would like it it it could be controlled by #of days. Even though have erased my history a couple of times, panels will show from a month back.
