When I am on a call, the screen turns off automatically when I put the phone to my ear, but when I take the phone off my ear during the call, the screen does not turn on again except when the caller ends the call

Before going to an Apple Store or AASP, try to remove that screen protector and test your proximity sensor.
If the issue persists, then it might be defective.

If you're sure that nothing (cover / screen protector) obstructs or interferes with your proximity sensor activity, make an appointment and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> Apple – Location Selector
