Notification badge for Mail disappears after closing the app

Hi all,

Does anyone know what might be happening? Notification badges for Mail disappear when the app is closed. They do appear and work normally when the app is open, but as soon as I hit cmd-Q they disappear.

Settings > Notifications > Mail are set to allow and badge app icon is ticked.

Mail > Preferences > General, Dock unread count and new message notifications are both set to "all mailboxes".

This seems to be an isolated problem, for instance, Messages badges work normally.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks.

MacOS 11.6 (20G165)

Mail Version 14.0 (3654.120.0.1.13)

MacBook Air (M1, 2020)

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.6

Don't quit Mail...

I have heard some other report and glitches associated with the Mail badge. Wait for an update unless it is mission critical to your work flow.
