Notification badge for Mail disappears after closing the app

Settings > Notifications > Mail are set to allow and badge app icon is ticked.

Mail > Preferences > General, Dock unread count and new message notifications are both set to "all mailboxes".

This seems to be an isolated problem, for instance, Messages badges work normally.

Don't quit Mail...

I have heard some other report and glitches associated with the Mail badge. Wait for an update unless it is mission critical to your work flow.

You can file a bug report, same link as this one: Apple Feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback

This is completely normal, if you quit mail, the badge disappears.
