When I play a sound in my iPad it blocks out every other sound

Hi, I’ve recently had trouble playing sound(music) on my device and I’d like some help. When I play sound, it blocks out everything and only plays the music, with vocals barely there. Now, this isn’t a big issue, but I'm a bit worried that this might affect my WebEx meetings. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
