Big Sur on MAC Mini M1 uses Bluetooth PAN when the Cinema Display is connected and the Display Ethernet is present.

Does anyone know why Big Sur on MAC Mini M1 uses Bluetooth PAN when the Cinema Display is connected, and the Display Ethernet is present?

Is there a way to have the MAC Mini use the Display Ethernet port and stop using the Bluetooth PAN interface?

With the Ethernet cable connected to the Ethernet port on the Cinema Display, the Bluetooth PAN displays the "Connected" message. When the Ethernet cable is removed from the Cinema Display Ethernet port, the Bluetooth PAN interface displays the "Not Connected" message.

Hi there kdimick,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Thanks for reaching out to us with this trouble you're having with the Mac mini M1. We're happy to help. Does this issue persist after removing the Bluetooth PAN from the preference list? Click the Apple () in the upper left corner, and go to System Preferences > Network > Bluetooth PAN, and click the minus (-) sign in the lower left corner. Follow the prompts to remove it from the list, and then test your issue. You can also boot the Mac mini in safe mode to see if this trouble replicates. Follow the steps here to do so:

How to use safe mode on your Mac

Let us know the outcome, and we can go from there if needed.

Have a great day!
