My Logic Pro X KEEPS SPINNING THE BEACH BALL How do I get IT working normally.?

I'm using Logic Pro latest edition, today I started getting "Unexpected request for audio data" -Error with flex time. It happened about 4 or 5 times and went a way quickly when I clicked on the message. Then I took a break and when I came back to reopen my project, the spinning beach ball was what I got.... I force quitted rebooted the computer, reinstalled Logic, saved all projects to external drives to free up space on the SSD. But the project still won't open and operate in a timely manner. Has anyone got any ideas?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Since your issue seems Flextime-related, I would try bouncing/exporting the flexed tracks, then either disable flex or import the tracks into a new session.

Sometimes the error occurs because of a cpu overload. What sample rate are you using. Increase you audio buffer rate.

Also check your plugins if they are all up-to-date.

Which Logic, MacOS and computer version/model are you working on?

BTW a re-installation of Logic is mostly not required. I’ve never re-installed Logic due to an issue.

Hi, I’m using Logic Pro X v10.6.3 on a MacBook Pro 2018. bit rate 128

I have found one solution is to set up another profile. My DAW works perfectly in that. The only problem is moving all permissions over to the new profile takes time.

I have also been through recent projects via the new profile and have shut down flex time instances and re-saved the projects. Also I jettisoned the com.apple.logic10.plist file and reset my preferences.

As a result I can now get into the projects on the original profile but the spinning balls make the process very slow and pointless.

Would it be a good idea to restore from a past back up , and if so, what? or should I just continue to use the new profile?

I can't give you a proper answer except I would try the most promising.

It's not clear what you mean by Profile. There is the term Profile in MacOS, but I've never changed my profile. Or do you mean "User Accounts"?

However, you have at least 4 different options:

  1. Find and delete more logic preferences (there might be more than just com.apple.logic10.plist).
  2. Create a new User Account and copy the logic preferences (there might be more than just com.apple.logic10.plist).
  3. Create a new User Account, do the adjustements and continue there.
  4. Retrieve from a backup.
