How do you out the subtitles on Apple TV when settings then accessibility and clicking on subtitles does not work?

I can't figure out how to turn subtitles on within Apple TV. I’m not able to locate the settings to access accessibility. What am I doing wrong? I am old and addled and I just can’t figure out how to turn the subtitles on when I’m using the Apple TV. I don’t see where the settings are an option.

Why won’t subtitles stay off on Apple TV? I’ve turned them off by the settings menu under the accessibility options but they keep playing on all kinds of apps and movies. It’s frustrating

watching Apple TV on my non-Apple computer, how do I turn on subtitles? My hearing isn't too good, so when I'm watching "Invasion" I like to see on the screen what is being said. Is that closed captioning or subtitles? and how do I turn it on permanently?

On your Apple TV remote swipe down and to the right on the touch pad area... This will open a drop down menu and you can disable subtitles there.
