I have a custom domain on iCloud and am attempting to set up IMAP through third-party apps. However, the SMTP connection just errors. When using the personal @icloud domain there is no issue connecting. It is then not possible to select the custom domain as the other accounts are not pulled through.
Are custom domain emails only accessible from apple mail apps and icloud.com?

We'll be happy to clarify. As linked in the first resource, your custom email domain uses iCloud Mail so you can send and receive email from that address in the Mail app anywhere you have iCloud Mail turned on such as an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and Windows computer.

Thanks, that's what I read online. I was hoping to integrate a full sync with a CRM platform but I can only do that using my @icloud domain and cannot select my custom domain to send and receive mail.
Is this something that is likely to change in the future?
It seems unlikely that this is expected behavior? I cannot send from the custom email address? This would be the same as forwarding to my iCloud.com email address from my old mail provider...which didn't need all the DNS complications.
