Bluetooth call volume is way too low, but other sound volume is fine

Hi

Every time I make a phone call on a bluetooth headset, the call volume is way too low, and I have trouble hearing the other person. However, music volume on bluetooth is fine, as are other sounds, and way way louder than phone call volume. On plug-in headphones, I don't have this problem, and both voice and music volumes are fine. So it seems clearly to be a software issue, and it happens on different bluetooth headsets as well.

Any ideas? Thank you

iPhone 11

Welcome to Apple Support Communities smiran,

We'd be happy to help figure out what's going on with your iPhone and bluetooth headphones. You mentioned that you tested this with other headphone both wireless and wired and it only happens with wireless ones, is that right? Has your iPhone been restarted since noticing this issue?

Restart your iPhone

Also, we see an iPhone 11 tagged in your post but didn't see a software version, is your iPhone running iOS 15.0.1 (latest available currently)?

You can try the steps in this article: If the sound from your wireless headphones cuts out or is distorted.

Hope that helps!

Thanks. I was previously running a version of 14, and yesterday I updated to 15.0.1 to see if that were the problem, but unfortunately the problem remains. I unpaired before the update, and re-paired after.

My iphone has been restarted numerous times. The problem still only occurs with wireless phones, with wired phones I have no problem at all.

If you made a 2x2 matrix of (wired, wireless) x (phone call, other audio), the problem only occurs in (wireless, phone call).

The problem occurs on multiple sets of wireless phones from different manufacturers.
