This is pretty scary. I keep getting notifications that an unknown device is with me and has been tracking me from Find My. It shows a comprehensive map of locations I’ve been to. What could it be? I clicked remove device and it said failed to connect to server. I restarted the phone and now 2 objects show up.

I MAY have a fix. This has been happening to us as well for 2+ months now
,I have spent hours on the home with Apple on our family shared account as we all were receiving the notifications and nothing has helped until now and here is what seems to be working for us. First off, remove apple AirPods from your Apple ID account completely. Then restore the AirPods completely as to a new condition by opening the cover and holding down the back pair button for 15 sec or more until light on the front pulsates in white light. Then, and this is very important! Go away from your home or business or school WIFI! You need to be on cell signal only, Go a few blocks away and then pair the AirPods to original owner ONLY, …… Since doing these steps, we are not getting the notifications that unknown AirPods are following you notifications anymore, I hope this helps, please let me know.
i restarted my phone and it’s still there. i don’t own airpods, airtags anything IOS/apple related except my phone. i check my purse, jacket and my clothes there’s nothing. i have locations off and tracking off. people got this on EARLY october, i’m getting this NOW. if this is a bug, which i hope it is. ya’ll don’t know how mad i’ll go.
Your not alone! I just opened up my “Find My” app and got this message. Coincidentally it stated tracking me at almost the exact minute I had left a bar last night. Had me freaked for a minute there. but it sounds like it’s probably a bug. Happy Halloween!!
I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE!
I went to view a house and when I left and got home I had a notification that an unknown device is travelling with me. (Scary thinking what if someone stuck an AirTag on my car when I was viewing this house?) checked the car and nothing. Left it alone and figured it might be a bug like some are recently saying. Then looking at it again today it said it was last seen at 4:08 last night. Not cool what the **** is this? I also can’t see what the actual device is to get more info! Can someone please look into these issues? Just stuck with this message:
Hi! This just happened to my sister! After quickly searching the internet to see what’s going on I heard a lot of talk about airpod pros, which I own. I decided to see what would happen if I connect my airpods to her phone and boom. Then it says this device can now track your location. We are not in a family system together and that’s why my mom was not getting notifications about it and they’re my airpods so of course they weren’t tracking me lol. I would be willing to bet the majority of people getting this notification are airpod owners or know friends with them and are with them a lot.
I would recommend everyone searching through any of your stuff to double check and always be safe. Obviously I’m not an apple technician and can’t tell you for sure but this is my experience, I hope it helps!
Hey I'm a police officer at usm and I think you (Apple) need to see what's that's about because I literally had two females last week come to me to file a report and the exact same thing was happening to them. It also said to call law enforcement but what are we supposed to do? We aren't tech analyst. They were so scared that they didn't even want to stay at their apartment so we had to accommodate them and have them stay on campus in a dorm. I don't know what's doing on but y'all need to fix it because it ALSO happening to females in tiktok as well.

Your AirPods are probably paired with an additional Apple device that does not share your Apple ID.
Me too but it’s my airpods and it’s saying it’s unknown and been traveling with me
I am experiencing this too! And I’m traveling solo internationally so I’d be very relieved to hear it is a bug! The issue I’m running into when I look up how to fix it is it requires that you disable right from the notification itself. I haven’t been able to find a way to re-open the security alert. Thoughts??
I’m so glad I found this community. My wife just got the same message on her iPhone and it freaked me out. I’m already a paranoid person as it is, especially in these crazy times we’re living. My wife is 6 months pregnant so you could only assume how protective I am of her at the moment. Anyways I looked up and down her car and didn’t find anything. We just switched cars to see if it’s on her or her car. After finding these post though I found a sense of relief. I’m hoping it’s just a bug. Thanks guys.
my mom got that notification on her Apple Watch after a long road trip and I have airpod pros and used them during the trip and I believe that maybe have been the issue but I’m still a bit worried about it.
I think there is a need to worry. You and your girlfriend may or may not care if each other devices are being tracked. But what if you are on a bus or train and someone you don't know gets an alert that your girlfriends air pods are traveling with them and they decide to hit the "play sound" or "find" button that comes up?
It’s showing places I didn’t go too plus it’s saying I have airpod pros which I don’t have but my cousin does yet he hasn’t been in the areas that it’s showing on the find my app. Am I being tracked some how????? I hope not.
I’m not sure what red dots you mean. If the dots on the tracking map it is places where you were when the device was detected. The dotted lines are just guesses how you traveled from one detection point to the next.
