Make "Emergency bypass"-contacts ring at night only

Not sure if what I'm trying to do is so special, but I could not find a solution so far:

  • I'm using my iPhone Xr (iOS 15.0.1) 100% of the time with the hardware "silent mode"-switch on, because I want my iPhone to never make any sound but just vibrate. So far so good.
  • Only at night when certain people call (probably urgent) my iPhone should ring, so that I wake up.

What I tried so far:

  • "Silent mode"-hardware-switch on...
  • ... and "emergency bypass" contacts defined.

The problem with that approach, however, is that these "emergency bypass"-contacts make my phone ring all the time (e.g. also during the day at work when my phone is physically with me and vibrating would be enough).

From what I can see, the ability to set a timeframe to the "emergency bypass"-function is missing. The way it's designed now, it makes those contacts ring "all the time", and a "be silent all the time but only ring at night when something is probably urgent" is not possible.

Is this about right, or am I missing something?

Hi judysings,

thanks a lot for your message.

Unfortunately Focus does not allow what's described above: The closest you can get is "have Focus manage the night as described above", but you still have to remember to switch off "silent mode" via the hardware switch at night and switch "silent mode" on in the morning via the hardware switch. A fully automated option is, from what I can see, not possible.

Am I missing something?
