Creating a strikethrough shortcut on MacOS Big Sur.

Hello community,

I have a concern about the strikethrough function. I would like to be able to have like a universal command key for this, just like bold (command + b), underline (command + u) and italicise (command + i). I have read a bunch of forums everywhere about how to make a strikethrough shortcut, how to use a strikethrough shortcut, etc. but none of them work?

I have used the process of going to keyboard and creating a shortcut under app application and for specific app's, but that didn't work.

Please if anyone has any idea's, let me know 👍

Thanks.

Most applications that are rich text based already have a keyboard shortcut, or button assigned to perform a strikethrough function. This will vary by application.

Overriding these by selecting specific text and using a keyboard shortcut of your own choosing would require that you have an Objective-C or Swift application written to capture that attributed text, apply a strikethrough dictionary attribute to that attributed text, and then replace the original text with the modified attributed text. This is not trivial, so I suggest you stick to the application-specific strikethrough features.
