Have only noticed this on the latest release of iOS on my iPhone and iPad mini. When tapping on a link in mail or within an app that opens Safari the page doesn’t load on the first try. If you go back to mail or the app and tap on the link again it opens safari and the page loads immediately. Super frustrating. Have tried clearing cached and restarting however this did not resolve it.
After dealing with the same problems for months, I finally found a fix:
1) In Settings, open Mail
2) Under Messages, open “Privacy Protection”
3) Uncheck “Protect mail activity”
“Protect mail activity” hides your IP address and loads remote content in the background without opening messages. But disabling it is the only solution I’ve found that works. Links in emails now open for me on the first try.
Not yet as far as we know, unfortunately. 😔 This has been busted in iOS for the last few years and it still occurs regularly for me in the latest version.
Yes i’m having trouble with this too. Total nightmare. Get it sorted Apple. In this day and age when things are supposed to be ‘improving’ these issues shouldn’t occur.
Well, that worked for a couple of days but now it’s back to taking two tries to open email links. Only from the default mail app, though. It’s not a problem on the gmail app.
Thank you for the extra hint. I had found a fix, too, though it still caused links to open or process slowly. I’ve taken your advice, too. Every little bit helps (🤞I hope).
