YubiKey and Safari 15

Hi - anyone having issues with using YubiKey 5 NFC to authenticate a login on a website in Safari 15? It worked on Chrome on the same computer so the Mac and OS are not the issue (Catalina). This appears to be a Safari issue.

Safari on OSX - Webauthn (FIDO2) not complete Latest version of Safari, v13.x, support Webauthn (FIDO2) but the implementation is not complete. It looks like it does not support the CTAP2 protocol if "userVerificarion = Required" is set. This would require that the user input a PIN before using (touching) the security key. Example can be found at https://webauthn.me/debugger. Register your FIDO2 security key and play with the different parameters. Use the debugger and change "userVerification from "preferred" to "required" and it will fail. This works in Microsoft Edge for OSX and Chrome for OSX. Does anyone know when or if Apple will correct this? I am using latest version of OSX (Catalina) with all updates. The Safari Preview version, latest one, has the same error.

Safari asking to authenticate user when attempting to log onto AF email. "Safari" is trying to authenticate user. Enter pin to allow this. PIN: This has never happened before, was able to access all gov sites like normal until today. Ive tried every combo I could think of for this pin and nothing works. I know my CAC pin and that's not working and I've tried to use my account user password and also not working. Any help would be great, thanks

There have recently been many reports of a broad range of new problems on this support site about the latest release of Safari v15. It is included in the downloads for Big Sur and Catalina. If you are experiencing these problems, you can use another browser such as Firefox or Chrome and they will work for you until a newer version of Safari is released.

I have read here that Apple's support people have a link to reinstall Safari and that doing so often fixes the problem. You might check with them.
