Geofencing problems with iOS15.01

iOS 15.2.1 does NOT solve the problem. I have also tested 15.3 and it seems to be solved with this version.

I hope version 15.3 will be available as soon as possible.

After resetting location and privacy under IOS 15.1, the problem still persists using orchestrated MobiLinc (the only app I have that uses geo fencing.

I recommend that everyone that has this problem (especially those with different or multiple apps that fail), call Apple support. They don’t appear to be working on this on their own, but maybe they will if enough of us complain.

Yes iOS 15.3 is out, however there are no release notes for it?

I was hoping there would be an official confirmation from Apple indicating that this geofencing issue has been fixed.

I find it curious and sad that Apple, as far as I know, never acknowledged or even mentioned this geofencing issue in any writing available to the public. If there is anything actually out there than do tell! The release notes for 13.5 only state that there ARE NO release notes! Why would Apple want to try and hide it under the rug by using the...if we don't say anything it never happened...method of subterfuge? You would think geofencing would be important enough to mention so sorry but I can't help but think bad things when no info is released.

I was affected with my Honeywell Home app geofencing, while my Arlo app had no issues. I would love to know why some apps geofencing broke and others didn't. You would think there would be one standard routine in an API for retrieving geolocation data, but apparently it looks like there must be more than one way to do it.

BTW, I upgraded to the new 15.3.1 release that just came out and geofencing is still working properly so knock on wood it stays that way. :-)

totally agree, i can confirm, i have 15.3 running at the moment and geofencing is working without the apps open, tested Ajax Alarm , Photosync. dont know if this intended. will test further.

IOS 15.3 is out! Downloading now. Hopefully it fixes the geofencing issue most of us have been having. Will test it later and see.

Same problem ! I have Nuki smart lock, and the Auto Unlock is not working anymore. Geofencing and gps refreshing totally crap, sometimes it’s working with a huge delay… looks like since they have the. AirTag with iOS 14.8

many people have the same problem, Nuki developer forums are full with complaining however they can’t do anything about this.

Apple should see this huge problem and fix it as soon as possible.

My wife and I have been experiencing problems with geofences with our iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, both of them running iOS 15 out of the box.

I have issues with ally my geofencing apps (Locative, Geofency, IFTTT app, Tado), which do not execute actions upon entering/exiting geofences unless I open these apps almost every day. Tado failing to update is an issue, as it controls my heating.

Needless to say, apps are enabled for location tracking and background execution. Issues persist with iOS 15.1.1

Same issues here with geofencing apps on iPhone 12 Pro. Issues started with iOS 15 Upgrade and persist even with latest iOS 15.1.1 Update.

2 other devices still running iOS14.8 just work fine. So issues are definitly tied to iOS15.x.

Also, when apps running in foreground on iOS15.x everything works fine. Once send to background triggers stop working.

Yes, there's definitely an issue with the geofencing. I've been a long time user of the Philips Hue lights, and I've always used the feature, "coming home" where my lights would turn on automatically when i'd be in the area of my home. All of my location services are turned on. I've reset the phone, deleted the Hue App, reset the bridge, reset the lights, turned off location services then back on, still nothing. I've reached out to Hue as well, but all of my settings were correct. The issues started happening with me with IOS 15.0.1. I am now on IOS 15.1.1 and still no fix. I've opened a ticket with Apple a few days ago and sent them the requested sysdiagnose files to see if the issue is logged during the automatic trigger on the app. I feel like every IOS update just gets worse and worse.

I have the same issue. Some apps work and some don’t. After restarting, resetting and reinstalling things an app may or may not work with Geofencing always on. If it does sometimes stops working.

Small side note is that Google Home always works but none of the other apps. iComfort, Arlo, Smartthings. Etc

same problem here. Works fine with iOS 12 or 14 on my other iPhones. On IOS15 it stops working!

So, the problem is IOS 15.

I have the same problem with MobiLinc HD , my isy994I processor is not getting updated on geofence entry and exit. Also they took out my Foscam camera from the update as well. Now the Foscam app won't see my camera but my windows computers can all see it, so the camera is fine.

I use Smartthings for home automation and my geofencing stopped working reliably immediately after upgrading to iOS 15. I'm currently on iOS 15.1.1 (iPhone 13) and it's still not fixed and is very frustrating.

It's very frustrating that Apple doesn't fix this.

Geofencing is fundamental to my alarm app. Without geofencing working properly in the background, it is useless.

I am very disappointed and hope that Apple will take care of this as soon as possible.
