Siri & email

I have an iphone XR, ios 14.6. I was very happy when I learned that I could send emails with Siri. I'd send myself an email at times when I couldn't make a note to remind myself of something. Now, all of a sudden she claims she can't do it. Whenever I ask her to, she responds, "Sorry, I can't help with that." She will still send texts, but I need her to send emails, too. My husband has the same problem now on his iphone 8. Anyone else suddenly experiencing this? Anyone know how to fix it? I haven't changed anything between the other day, when it worked, and now, when it doesn't.
