You cannot. The Safari version on an iPad has no specific version number as it is part of the OS.

If the iPad is running the most recent iPadOS version (currently 15.0.2), then it has the most current Safari version.

You can go to Settings->General->Software Update to see if there are any OS updates available for the iPad.

Your Installed version of Safari cannot be updated independently of iOS/iPadOS. If your iPad has been updated to the most recent version of iOS/iPadOS supported by your device, then you have the most recent version for your operating system.

In answering your specific question, whilst your actual version of Safari is not exposed by the OS via Settings, the installed version is easy to determine by using a website that enumerates your Browser Agent. An example is https://www.whatismybrowser.com/

Your Safari browser can operate in two different modes - namely Desktop & Mobile - and each produce a different result. For example, iPadOS 15.0.2 when operating in Desktop mode is enumerated thus:

By contrast, in Mobile mode we see this:

Your browser mode is simply change from your Safari App. To change mode, simply tap the aA icon at the left side of the Address Bar; a menu will appear. Next tap Website Settings - and select Request Desktop Website then Done. This setting changes the browser mode for the current website.

I hope this clarification proves to be helpful in better understanding your installed version of Safari.

iOS Safari is upgraded/updated with iOS/iPadOS upgrades/updates.

So, can you, please, confirm what year and model iPad do you have/own?

The “A” model number can be found on the aluminium back of your iPad, in very small print, right under the larger bold print “iPad” on the back of the iPad.

What iOS/iPadOS version is this iPad, currently, running?

All of that additional info can be found in the Settings app, General settings panel, About.

Please try to attempt to answer all questions asked.

Thank You.

MichellPM Safari on iPad

You don't need the year & model , the user is on an iPad which updates itself , you just told them so !

And your request to "attempt to answer all questions asked " … is sarcastic , rude &

belittling . I wish I were @ level II so that I could report this post ! While I'm at it , I feel

the user should be able to report a post @ any level … we can recognize inappropriate , off topic & offensive posts too , we're not idiots ! 💡

This site has no feedback to click on , is why I wrote it here .

You gotta problem, whoever you are!

The user who posted wanted to know what version of Safari they have.

I posted the note sbout Safari, BUT,witout further investigation about the user's iPad, there is absolutley NO way to know if that user, COULD upgrade/update their iPad model to a a more current iOS/iPadOS version to get s more recent version of the Safari Web browser.

Also, I always asked this information at the start of ANY user posting that DOES NOT supply ANY uselful information about tbeir iPad.

Just saying you have an iPad is simply and bluntly NOT enough info to give ANY reasonable user help.

If the user who posted has an older iOS device, running an older iOS version, there maybe alternative, third party Web browsers that are more current, that the user could look into, to use a a more current altenative to an older Safari Web browser.

The way I ask my questions here is NOT up to YOU and you have ZERO insight into the reasons that I ask such questions here and should be of NO concern or consequence to you!

Please, refrain from telling others here how they should post here.
