I am upgrading my iPhone and do not plan to restore from a backup due to possible corruption. If I do not restore my new phone from a backup, will my playlists in Music download to the new phone when I sync it to my Mac? Most of my music is not from Apple (ripped from cds and purchased on other platforms), so while the songs have been imported to iTunes, I cannot re-download from the App”e store.

We understand that you are upgrading your iPhone and are not planning on restoring from a backup. You want to know if your playlists from Music will download to the new phone. If you are subscribed to Apple Music or iTunes Match, your library will sync to your new iPhone as soon as you sign into your Apple ID on your new phone. If you have synced your music from your computer to your old iPhone, you can sync the library to your new iPhone also.
