Wi-Fi does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the internet

“Wi-Fi does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the internet“ message under wi-if status in network preferences. Turning on and off the wifi doesn't work. The only solution that worked it this which recommends set configure IPv4 to Using DHCP and Configure IPv6 to Link-local only.

but after a few minutes, the wifi turns off and I should repeat the solution again to connect for another few minutes. Any ideas?

Just to add my two cents to this discussion. I've had the same issue (I'm using both Ethernet and WiFi from my Mac mini-wifi for Apple Watch unlock capability/Apple Pay!) but at one point in the recent past and when pre 11.6 MacOS version it cleared up. Since 11.6, I've had the wifi disconnect and not reconnect, turn itself off and not turn back on not matter what position I put the wifi switch in the network system preference, it won't turn back on. Using terminal I check status and it reports the interface is "inactive". About the only recourse is a reboot but that only lasts hours. A shutdown and unplug (to reset SMC), re=plug and restart seems to only extend that time to a day or two if I'm lucky. So if the Apple experts weigh in on your issue I'll be watching to see if there's a remedy for mine!
