I have been trying to update my iPad Pro 10.5-inch, Wi-Fi, Cellular device with the latest iPadOS 15.0.2 but it has literally been stuck on "Verifying Update" for over 6 hours! What is going on and why won't it complete the update process???

My iPad Pro 10.5in (2017), with the cellular option, was running with iOS 15.0 happily installed...
But I had problems trying to update to 15.0.2 - stuck at "Verifying update".
After reading this thread, I tried again.
When installation stuck at "Verifying update", I popped out the (empty) sim tray - and immediately the installation continued properly. :)
iOS 15.0.2 is now properly installed.
Incidentally, I had no problems installing it on my iPhone X.
Adding an old SIM card worked for me, as well! Thank you for the tip!
Just to be absolutely clear, inserting a SIM card resolved the update verification problem?
Right on.. Took an old Sim card from a deactivated device and it is updating! Thanks for the advice.
This has to be the most counter-intuitive fix ever, but removing the SIM tray from my iPad Pro worked.
