Old Web Pages Load on all Devices, not Most Recent

HI All,

This has been going on for years.

Going to a web page will bring up a page from a day ago or even longer ago and I have to reload the page to get the most recent. Especially bad on iPad it seems.

Erasing history and caches does nothing.

Thanks,

Al

Hello UCanCallMeAl,

It sounds like you have some issues loading recent webpages on your devices. We will be happy to assist you.

To clarify, is the website that you're going to display information from a day or longer, or Safari showing pages that you visited from earlier than a day?

Also, do the steps in this article help? Set Safari to always open to the same webpage

Please let us know.

Take care.

Hi Merlin,

Issues... There is no "background app refresh" choice for Safari on iPad. Neither in App Refresh nor within Safari settings is there a toggle for that.

Somehow I've manage to screw up Safari on my desktop.

Now when it opens there are about 50 tabs opening as well for a lot of sites. No idea how that happened.

Can you tell me how to have Safari include just 5 pages when it opens? Do I need to close 45 of those tabs and leave the 5 I want to open and then include those in General setting, copying each URL and pasting in "Home Page" box?

I'd appreciate knowing that!!!

Sincerely,

Al

The article was helpful for iMac. I changed a few settings to see.

On the iPad, when I go to one of my usual sites like NYT, ESPN, and reload the page, an OLD page will load, not the most current.

THis has been this way for a long time. I have to close the tab and open a new tab to get the most recent page.

Merely reloading the page will not give me the most current. I have to reload twice.

Thanks,

Al

Hello UCanCallMeAl,

On the iPad, do you close Safari using this method when leaving the app? Quit and reopen an app on iPad

If not, and you're just switching apps, you may wish to check if Background App Refresh is on. This article shows you how to check: Switch apps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

With Background App Refresh, suspended apps can check for updates and new content. This may refresh that page for you.

Please let us know.

Cheers!
