MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) and LG Monitor's power

Hi there!

I'm using MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) with LG Monitor 27UL850-W. This monitor has type-c interface with power for Mac. Sometimes isn't enough power from LG Monitor and I have to use original Mac power adapter.

There is no opportunity to switch off monitor power function, so I have a question. Is it safety to use both things: type-c monitor (with powering) and original Mac power type-c adapter?

Hi Punktirok,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

We understand that your LG monitor doesn't produce enough power for your MacBook and the monitor and you want to know if it's safe to use the Mac power adapter at the same time.

You can connect the Mac power adapter at the same time as your monitor. You can learn more here: Use the LG UltraFine 5K Display with your Mac or iPad

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
