Why is the Bookmarks menu buried so deeply that it requires three clicks to get to it. I have only noticed this inconvenience since upgrading to ios15. Is there a way to configure Safari so I can use my bookmarks menu without having to click so many times to get to it?

It only requires one for me (which I think is the same as before). When you tap on the bookmarks icon, it will open to the tab you're were using last (bookmarks, reading list, history). Are you seeing something different?
And just to be clear, you've posted in the Mac System Software forum. Are you really asking about the version of Safari in iOS 15? Or are you asking about Safari 15 on the Mac?
