How to disable lock key on magic keyboard?

I can't understand why Apple designed the Magic keyboard to have the screen lock key be directly next to the delete key - the screen lock key is way too inadvertently clicked by proximity to the delete key, especially considering it's a pinky-stretch maneuver to tap a delete key anyhow - pinkies aren't known for accuracy.

There's nowhere in the Keyboard preferences to disable this button. Does anyone have a workaround trick that doesn't involve downloading yet another app, visiting a spammy website, creating an account, etc?

Seems like a strange misstep for Apple to have made such a simple, obvious mistake! Thank you in advance for any suggestions that don't involve someone trying to mansplain that "I just need to practice, and learn the muscle memory and adapt" — that's exactly WHY I buy Apple products, because they are easy and don't require the user to adapt to a piece of illogical hardware.

You can not disable the Powerbutton/TouchID on the keyboard.
