why can I not call or get calls from the numbers marked with a check? My husband and a medical device number is marked like this and I can not call them and they can not call me. This is very bad.
i do get plenty of unwanted calls that should be verified and are not like the car warranty calls when I don’t have a car is just one.

Settings > Phone
Ensure that they are not in blocked contacts
Sometimes that's all it takes
The verified checkmark shouldn't change the ability to receive a call.

Blocking Out Spammers:
Use Malwarebytes Mobile Security. The free version blocks popups. The paid version blocks out known spam numbers. So, consider using it. Read the following post to see how to use this software: Blocked numbers - Apple Community
Sometimes a good restart is needed after a software update. There likely isn't any reason why certain calls just didn't work and it may never happen again.
That is what the checkmark is supposed to indicate, other than that I have nothing more to offer. Can you post of screenshot where it says it has been verified?
I restarted iPhone and I could call again. How do I stop it from happening again? Why is it doing that in first place?

That’s exactly what I was saying. Why did it disable that number from calling again or me from calling them?
Ronnie Davis and AeroCare has the check mark. I click the circled I to get information and it says it has been verified. I can not call or text them and they can not call or text me. Why? How do I fix this and stop it from happening to other numbers I want to stay in contact with. Finding out days later that this has blocked us is not good.
This is a larger actual size or something like that. Can you see what I’m talking about now?
I read another post from a woman that had same problem but didn’t see any answer for her but the answer to question above her was that iOS Apple was trying to cut back on spam or something like that
No that’s not it. I don’t have any marked favorite. If you notice other ones to Ronnie below that one don’t have the check mark. When I click to get information on that call it just says it has been verified. I have not been getting any calls or text from him since then.

I looked at my call log just out of curiosity.. I don't know what the issue is for the OP, but I can provide screenshots and an observation..
In my call log, only incoming calls ever have the checkmark. You'll see it right under the persons name. If I call that same person, you'll see the outgoing call icon next to their name, and it never has the checkmark.
If I press the 'i' for information, you'll see the comment it has about the checkmark
Can you post a screen shot of what you are talking about? I'm not familiar with the checkmark you are referring to.
I can't see your screen shot, too small and fuzzy. Have you asked your cell service provider if they know what this verification checkmark is? I don't see any checkmarks in your screenshot.
The checkmarks means they are one of your Favorites. Check their Contacts entry and make sure you haven't inadvertently blocked or silenced them.
How will this help to actually get the calls from favorites?
Yes. Rebooting the iPhone is usually a good all fix and I forgot to even try that first. Thanks again.
