Movies created in iMovie on may MacBook Pro are readable only on my computer - nothing else. How do I fix this?

I can't share movies created in iMovie on my MacBook Pro with any machine other than my own. Nor can I share the movie to a thumb drive. How do I fix this.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.6

The Disk Utility option would be Mac OS Extended (Journaled) if you are using the thumb drive only on Apple systems. You also could use ExFat, which would be compatible with both Apple and Windows systems. ExFat does not have a file size limitation. You just couldn't store an iMovie library or Photos library on an ExFat drive. But otherwise, probably ExFat would be the most versatile format for a thumb drive.

EDIT by Poster: Be aware that reformatting a drive will erase all data on it So first back up any data that you want to keep.

I’m having trouble visualizing your issue. Can you describe what steps you are taking and what happens? Are you getting any error messages? What do you mean by “readable”?

One can’t share to another computer but can share to a thumb drive. If the thumb drive is formatted FAT 32, the size of the movie must be less than 4GB. What size is your movie and what format and space capacity is your thumb drive? Are you selecting the thumb drive as your destination in the export boxes?
