Verizon Wireless / NYC user / frequent "call failed" and frequent dropped calls

My iPhone12 was doing just fine until about a 3 weeks ago, then "call failed" started to occur almost daily. Verizon was unhelpful, suggesting that I turn off 5G, and turn off Wi-Fi calling. I did the latter, but I'm paying for the 5G and 5G is available in NYC.


Then, I obtained a new sim. That does not solve the problem either. Unfortunately, no one seems to know if the problem is hardware or software, or whether it's Apple related or Verizon related.

Is anyone else having this issue again?

Nothing solved the call failures. And I started to receive another odd notification "Last Line No Longer Available Do you want to call using your remaining line?" I do not have a second line on the phone in question. The poor service was obstructing my work. So I switched to AT&T wireless service yesterday and kept the same iPhone 12Pro.

No longer receiving "call failed" notifications. No longer experiencing dropped calls. So, I suspect the problem is the with the Verizon wireless 5G network in the Northeast US and the way it interacts with the iPhone 12Pro and/or iOS15.

Either one of both of Verizonwireless or Apple should have performed a public service and issue a statement of some sort about frequent "called failed" notifications. But, such ethical behavior is not to be expected in the US.

It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting to solve this issue.
