USB-C Hub disconnecting occasionally

Hello! I am having an issue where my USB-C hub is disconnecting occasionally, normally one or two minutes after I plug it in whenever I want to use an external monitor and an external keyboard and mouse. with my MBA. When the issue happens, my external monitor would go black, and I would have to click with my mouse or keyboard to turn it on again. The last time it happened (today), even the mouse and keyboard stopped working along with the external monitor, so I had to unplug and plug my USB-C hub back into my MBA's port.

My power adapter is plugged in whenever I want to use an external monitor, and after restarting my laptop, the issue still persists around once a day. I am on the latest version of macOS Big Sur. I am using an Anker 5-in-1 USB-C hub.

What can I do to fix it?

Hello Maxim_124,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We understand the USB-C hub is disconnecting while connected to your MacBook Air. We're happy to assist.

First try resetting the SMC on your Mac: How to reset the SMC of your Mac This will reset the power to various ports and can help refresh the connection to the hub. Be sure to test after completing these steps.

Try testing this issue using a new user account on your Mac. These steps can be found here: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac While logged in to the new account, test and see if the hub disconnects.

If the same issue occurs, reach out to Anker for more assistance.

Take care.
