Black screen

I am trying to wipe my previous MacBook on which my screen has entirely died. Everything else works fine but the screen is completely black which makes things tricky. I tried to connect to an external device with an hdmi cable but didn’t work so I am stuck with a torch trying to do this. The MacBook starts up with a recovery page (the finder logo) but I can’t see what to do next either to sign in or to get the wretched thing wiped. Can anyone help?

What is the end game...?


Are you sending it in for repair?


Are you recycling it?

Apple Recycling Programs


Are you trading it in?

Apple Trade In


If you can physically remove the drive, seems no issue?
