Unpaired, locked Apple watch series 2

As the title suggests, I have an Apple Watch that is unpaired and it says to many wrong password attempts, that it has to be reset and repaired. I follow the directions to hold the side button and press the power slider button to bring up the wipe menu…but the wipe menu never comes up. I’ve followed videos and I don’t know what to try next, any advice would be greatly appreciated! It was mine, and I gave it to my son who didn’t like it. It still has his information in the medical sos slider but when I redownload the Apple Watch app on his phone it only gives me the pair new watch open, when I go in to his iCloud on the computer it’s not listed as a device.

You can ask apple to remove the activation lock online on this page;

Online Activation Lock Removal Tool.

Or this;

If you can't remember/gain access to the apple id that paired the watch to the phone.Take the watch and it's receipt along with some photo id and any other proof of ownership to an Apple Store and request that they remove the Activation Lock for you.
