safari tabs in update IOS 15.0.2

I've just update my iPhone to IOS 15.0.2 and the regret is big. They've changed the Safari layout and I hate it. Unfortunately its seems it can not be changed. I see now the tabs on one screen, small sizes, yuk. Before this, they were placed in a kind of row en you could scroll trough them and with the + button a new tab could be added. Any one an idea how to change this back? (without undo the update)

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone
  2. Choose Safari from the root list
  3. Choose between tabs on top or bottom underneath the Tabs heading
  • Tab Bar: The new default, repositions the address bar to the bottom
  • Single Tab: Choose this to get the old Safari interface back

Choose the Single Tab option if you’ve become accustomed to the previous Safari design. And boom, just like that you have your old Safari interface back!

This doesn’t change it back to the way it was at all. It seems to put the search bar back at the top instead of the bottom but it doesn’t take the annoying tiny tab screen away. That is what we would like to fix not the placement of the search bar. If I am missing something let me know. But I went into the tabs function and changed it and it did nothing as far as I can tell.

And that has WHAT to do with the arrangement of pages in Safari? Threadjacking is rude; if you have a problem not related to a thread create a new post rather than jump into the middle of an unrelated discussion. You can click on the Post link at the top of this page to create a new post.

This does not address the concerns posted here. We are asking how to display tabs full size in a stack/cascade as they were before the last misguided update rather than the new awful mini-tile display. Is there a way to do that and if not please run up the chain that it would be great to have an Orion to choose that last tab display.

Agreed! This new tab format is ageist af! (and I'm not even that old!) Registering a complaint with the ADA is a great idea.

AGEIST, inefficient, impossible to read, more prone to accidentally deleting tabs in simply scrolling, cannot quickly determine which page I want without reading tiny descriptors. Who could POSSIBLY consider this an improvement??!!

And to top it off, no way to restore cascading.

I have always loathed Android. I'm giving that serious reconsideration after this.

Hands down the worst feature update EVER.

For anyone who is visually impaired it’s now become horrible and unusable product

….Horribly discriminatory for disabled people who rely on adaptive technology through iPhones etc. why not offer CHOICES?!

Changing the format of how you interface with technology is easy for people who are not disabled !!

Apple they just keep screwing with their interface without any consideration to the thousands of disabled people👎

The old format was impossible for anyone with hand use impairment, as a relative complained about constantly. So the ADA issue is not as obvious as you make it sound.

And anyone with a serious visual impairment can enable VoiceOver, which works much better with the new format than it did with the old format, as it will read the entire text of the small image (I just tested it).

When we get updates, I thought it was supposed to make features better. This is like taking three steps back. It’s super inconvenient, looks absolutely horrendous, and is extremely unfriendly for users. Who thought this was a good idea?! Someone said instead of giving a stack of papers, it’s like laying it out across an entire table. Change it back immediately, please.

NO, as another user in this user-to-user forum I absolutely REFUSE to change it back. And if Apple changed it back I would switch to a different browser (as I did before iOS 15), because the old way was horrifically bad, and the new display of pages is close to perfect in my opinion, and it certainly made the feature better. Believe it or not, you are not the world’s authority on user interface design, and just because you don’t like something it doesn’t mean that you are right or that the rest of the world agrees with you (if the rest of the world did you would see thousands of posts about it, not the measly dozen or so in this thread).

As you seem to want Apple to change it you should let Apple know; posting in this forum will not achieve that, but using this link will→https://apple.com/feedback. I have posted a “thank you" for the new design to that feedback link.

Hi there, that is not the issue (already have that in place) I like to be able to use old way of viewing multiple tabs by swiping the various tabs on the top - the new small icons is impossible to read

I think the new design is practically perfect, and is a huge improvement over the “stack of pages” in the last version. It provides a lot more information about what each page is about.
