Need help in tuning sensitivity

Earlier I've been playing games with a mouse as is, but this week I've bought my first gaming mouse with mindfulness, it's Logitech MX518 Legendary (Hero sensor). I'm playing on macbook pro single-player games almost only, but for tuning sensivity I've chosen CS:GO, please explain me how these factors affects resulting sensitivity:

  • systemwide macOS sensitivity in mouse settings: a number from 1 to 10
  • in-game mouse sensitivity
  • mouse DPI
  • mouse polling rate

especially I was so surprised, after discovering that polling rate affects sensitivity. looks like is is a value for controlling cursor delay, and that sounds strange. i had a talk with some guys who told me that it isn't normal that all the parameters affect sensitivity in-game.

and another fact that I was surprised with is high polling rate affect CPU performance so much, for example 1000 Hz results in 20 FPS in CS:GO with low settings, while 250 Hz results in about 40 FPS. can someone explain this fact?

Hi there pdanilov,

Let's team up to help get your questions answered as best we can regarding your Logitech mouse.

For your question regarding having a difference when changing the settings of your mouse, this is expected behavior. We recommend using settings that feel the most comfortable for you and the mouse.

High polling rates would use more resources, whereas lower ones will use less resources. This would explain what you're seeing regarding performance when you change these settings.

Have a good one!

I'm very upset with your answer, it is not a technical one. There is very little information about mouse settings and macOS, so if anybody in the future also face the problem like mine, follow this reddit topic, there is a solution for the issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/MouseReview/comments/qa8m1f/need_help_in_tuning_sensitivity/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Polling rate shouldn't affect the mouse sensivity. It's not about "using settings that feel the most comfortable for you". I want to set up my mouse sensitivity and I'm uncomfortable when polling rate affects because it shouldn't. See the definition of polling rate. The root of problem is naming "Tracking speed" - it is not sensitivity parameter, but acceleration. These terms are different. And when we use lower polling rate, OS tracks mouse position less often, distance between two positions becomes bigger, so acceleration gives our mouse more velocity. So, thing I REALLY DID NOT TO EXPECT.

P. S. bruno75 please unmark your answer with "Helpful", it was a misclick.
