Image Capture App hangs & finally crashes continuously

Hi There,


Image Capture app is frequently hanging and crashing. It's not allowing importing media files from iPhone 11(iOS Version 14.8) to Mac Book (Mac OS Version Catalina 10.15.7).


Please provide the exact solution, what is the best way I can transfer files from iPhone to Mac. A quick and correct solution will be very helpful. I am hoping to get a response from Apple support. Thank you.


FYI - My observation is this a well known issue of Image Capture App based on other reported issues. I tried some of the suggested solutions but nothing helped me to get rid of the issue.

This is the first incident of this particular problem I've seen here. Try the following: boot into Safe Mode according to Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.


NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following; 

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts 

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
