CarPlay cannot be used when Car WiFi hotspot is on

The functionality of Car WiFi is not usable, currently, if I want to also use my connected car WiFi.  So if passengers in the car want to connect to the car WiFi hotspot, while CarPlay is on, the car says that CarPlay must be disabled to allow the WiFi hotspot to start.

ATT Connected Car WiFi allows up to 15 devices to connect, so it shouldn’t be a big problem to allow CarPlay connection from Car to iphone via WiFi or USB cable to co-exist.

As it stands now for me, I’m planning to use CarPlay, and thus cannot use the functionality for Mobile hotspot.

This is a shame, and even after a long tech support call with competent Apple Support reps tonight, we couldn’t make it work…. It is CarPlay or WiFi but not both at the same time.

A software update to fix this and enable CarPlay to work either via USB to an iPhone or WiFi, and then allow passengers in the car to simultaneously connect to car hotspot as a passenger without disabling CarPlay..

iPhone 12, iOS 15
