Handbrake

I am converting several movies to mp4 using Handbrake. The first movie always converts fine, but the second or third fail to convert and the only way to get the conversion to work is to restart my iMac. It seems like a setting is stuck. I can not delete the application, it shows up as a drive as opposed to an App and when I try to eject that drive, there is a message: Finder is using the drive. I don’t see Handbrake or the App Caches anywhere in the files. I am running MacOS Big Sur 11.6. Any idea as to how to delete an App that shows up as a drive or any way to reset it?

Once you have the Handbrake app in the Applications folder you open Handbrake from there.

The Handbrake 1.4.2 'drive' will continue to appear in your Side bar or on the Desktop until you decide to eject it.

Drag it to the Trash to eject it from the Desktop.

Or click the eject button in the Sidebar.

Have you never installed an app before.

When you downloaded Handbrake it will have downloaded as Handbrake 1.4.2.dmg to

your Downloads folder.

Once downloaded you open the disk image and a window will open showings the Handbrake.app.

You now drag the app into your Applications folder, and operate Handbrake from there as you do any

other Application.

To locate the app, launch Handbrake. Then right-click the Handbrake icon in the Dock and select Options > Show in Finder. MacOS should display the app in its enclosing folder and from there you can delete it by dragging it to the trash.

When you describe that the app shows up as a drive... can you clarify that? Apps don't show up as drives in macOS.

Maybe you've improperly installed the app, or are running the app from inside the disk image (.dmg) that you downloaded?

Can you please post a screenshot of the app that shows up as a drive?
