Blue Yeti Mic & M1 Mac Mini USB A

Hi folks,

I recently bought a Blue Yeti usb mic that comes with a USB A cable only. The first time connected it to my M1 Mac Mini, the computer recognised it no problem and I used it for VC and a YT livestream.

Now when connected via USB A, it does not even appear under the Input / Output options in System Preferences - Sound.

if I use a USB A to USB c adapter and plug via one of the usb c ports, it works fine and is available for selection in Sound preferences.

However, I use both USB c ports currently and the adapter is too big. So I would rather use the USB a port.

Does anyone know why there is comparability issues between the Blue Yeti Mic and the M1 Mac Mini over USB A?

Hello Patek5711,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. If we're understanding correctly, you're unable to establish a connection with your Yeti microphone to a Mac. We'll be happy to help.

Are you using an Apple branded or an Apple certified adapter to connect the Yeti to your Mac mini? If you're unsure, we suggest to review details in this helpful article: Adapters for the Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C port on your Mac

In addition, we suggest to verify if the microphone by Yeti is compatible with your Mac: Yeti Support

Best regards.
