Apple Music starts frequently on CarPlay

This problem existed before but so much worse with ios15. I plug my phone in and start CarPlay, and Apple Music starts playing. I turn off audio, and then after a mac direction, it starts again. So I pause the song. Then I have Siri read me a text message - starts again. Then I put on the radio (through car’s audio, not my phone, and even then, if I do anything else on CarPlay it starts Apple Music. Even if I have another audio app pike audible or iHeartRadio, it shuts that and starts Apple Music. WHAT IS HAPPENING? This is driving me crazy.

I have tried restarting my phone, removing and reinstalling the app, turning off sync across devices. I’m ready to kill my Apple Music subscription. Please help.

Happens on my Honda, my daughter’s Toyota and my husband’s bmw. It’s an Apple car play issue/iPhone issue, not the car. Thanks anyway
