How can I disable iPad split/slide control at top of screen in iOS 15?

Title says it all. In iOS 15, there's now a tiny three-dot control at the top of every app that pops up a split-view/slide-over control when tapped.

Unfortunately, it's also right where some apps have controls, and it's almost impossible to distinguish. Specifically, I have an artists who spends their entire day in a drawing app, and these view controls overlap two common painting tools, making them almost impossible to select.

In earlier versions of iOS there was an option to disable some of the multitasking gestures, but these seem to have gone away.

The three dots “button” is a core element of the iPadOS15 User Interface - intended to simplify use of full/split/slide-over multitasking. This control cannot be hidden or suppressed - and neither can multi-tasking be disabled in iPadOS15.

Apple do invite constructive feedback, comments and feature requests via their product feedback pages. For iPad and iPadOS:
