Resetting my AirPods Max by holding down both the crown and noise suppression buttons and then allowing them to reconnect fixes the problem temporarily, but it recurs several times per day, and seems to be related to certain motions of my head when wearing the AirPods. I don't recall this speaker cutout happening before spatial audio was supported. Turning off Bluetooth on my iPhone does not fix the problem -- it still occurs with my M1 MacBook Pro. It is always the right speaker that cuts out, and the balance setting still shows as in the middle.
I have this problem with my AirPod Pro's which began not long ago. Only while connecting to my MacBook Pro, 13in Intel (mid 2019.) The issue is ALWAYS the balance slider auto adjusting itself to the left only. It's great to see others have noticed that too but it is NOT A FIX it is a bandaid. The question is - WHY does it keep reseting the balance? Anytime I take out the Airpods or disconnect them the balance is back to one side when I reconnect.
✅
Go to system pref > sound > output tab; select the device and select balance to middle.
Ta! I’ve got a Genius Bar appointment in a few hours. Also, I have already gone through all the resetting options/ steps last night with an Care representative but alas to no avail.
This issue commenced when connected only with iPhone when I was leaving work. My iPad Pro was at home and switched off. It began with the right ear unresponsive to sound or noise cancellation.
Okay this is just completely broken now, apple are you going to fix this or not
I guess I didn't pay for the 'always stereo' option. Apple - you are starting to be not worth the price.
ps - check system prefs/sound then airpods max, and check the balance slider. During the update to Monterey it's possible the balance got set to one ear. I definitely didn't do that.
I was having the same problem, fixed it checking the balance in the Sound configuration in the Mac.
This works for my airpods pro max. I was having problem with it in my macbook pro 16 inch. Thanks!
This was my issue too! I am CERTAIN I didn't touch the balance at all though. Seems like a bug to me.
Audio Midi Setup > on sidebar, select your AirPods Max > output tab > raise 1 & 2 to 100%.
Your Digital Crown should be able to control both of the volumes at the same time now.
Thanks for the links, but the question is in regards to the AirPods Max.
