Does the video play in the QuickTime player?
It looks like you are using a third party plugin. It might need to be reinstalled or updated. Maybe it was removed when there was an system out application update, though you said it started in the previous FCP version. Something changed or moved.
Make sure that Final Cut Pro has Full Disk Access in System Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy
I tried deleting the plugins and that didn't work so I followed some instructions deleted FCPX and some other associated files reloaded it all and I'm still having the problem on some files but not all of them! Ill continue to play with this over the weekend and get back to you Thanks for the quick response to date
From what I can work out the problem doesn't happen when I have them on my macs HDD but happens if they are on an external HDD I'm using solid-state drives. If I move into a new library that's on the SSD plugin problems occurs. If I move them to a library on my Mac no problem and if I move them from the mac,s HDD to the SSD it doesn't happen.
I'm using FCP x 10.6 but the problem started yesterday on the version before
big sur 11.6

What happens? The application crashes? You get an error message? What error message? You see something else? Please post screenshots. Open the media file in the QuickTIme and post a screenshot of the full inspector window.
What OS and FCP version is this? (There's no macOS 13.)
