How can I Screen share iPhones with elderly parent

I need the ability to share my elderly mom’s iPhone 12 screen … (from my iPhone 12) for her almost nightly phone calls asking how to do the most basic of things. Her dementia is getting worse and she doesn’t remember how to do screenshots, reply to emails, etc.

If there was an app, like the one Apple Support uses to remotely access our iPhone screens, that would be perfect. No we don’t have iPads and she no longer has her MacBook. Simple access to her phone would give me back 10 hours a week of my repeatedly walking her through the most basic things.

Any suggestions for available apps for this? What about iOS 15 FaceTime screen sharing? Will that be available for iPhone as well as the iPad?

I used to share screens with other Mac users via iMessage (Messages app). I need the same capability between our iPhones.

Pls I need my life back & it’s heartbreaking seeing my formerly Apple savvy mom, be unable to do the most basic of tasks.

iPhone 12, iOS 14

I can certainly empathize with you since I have gone through what you are going through at this time. I have seen and experienced an elderly parent go from being tech savvy to forgetting how to turn the phone on. In the end, I opted to purchase a flip phone with big buttons so that I can talk to my elderly parent on a daily basis. As a backup or in parallel I also got a landline with a traditional big numbers telephone.

In your case, you are in luck. Screen Sharing through FaceTime will be available in the next iOS update (very near future). This is a feature known as SharePlay that will be available later this fall with iOS 15.x (Fall is here). It appears to work as the screen sharing works between Macs today with macOS Big Sur.
