Apple health steps do not match Apple Watch steps

I believe the steps on my Apple Watch are accurate. When I go to Apple health the steps are always less than what is shown on my watch. The distance is the same but the steps are always lower. Apple health is what other tracking apps I use pull off of and it is causing an inconsistency. Has there been any acknowledgment and correction to this issue? I’ve seen other posts from the past but no resolution.

Check the priority of the input sources, your watch may be lower priority than your iPhone. In the Health app on the iPhone go into Activity/Steps and scroll to the very bottom of the page. Then tap on Data Sources & Access, and review the source devices and their priority order.
