I could be wrong but I do not believe the 30-pin to USB cable would help since it has the male connection and, I assume, your radio dock also has the male connection.
Many of the 30-pin iPod dock radios also had a 3.5mm auxiliary input. If yours does a 3.5mm to Lightning cable is likely the easiest and cheapest option.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. There is a 1/8" plug input, but isn't that a bit smaller than 3.5mm?
And in any case, I don't see either a 1/8" to Lightning or a 3.5mm to Lightning cable on the Apple site. Do you know a supplier?
