MacBook not accepting password

I restarted MacBook Pro and it won’t accept my password even after I’ve reset it multiple times. Reading online I saw a software update may help, but I don’t have the apple button in the top left on the Lock Screen and I can’t get recovery mode to start either, but I may be doing something wrong since I’ve never done that before.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.5
