iPhone sent photo I didn't actually send

Could this be a glitch or something like malware? I sent a bitmoji to someone tonight in a text message but what they received was a photo I had taken about two years ago, not the bitmoji. On my end, I see the bitmoji. On their end, they see a photo from my iphone library. How is this possible? Was it a glitch or could I have downloaded some sort of malware or other malicious thing to my iphone?

Hi belle3366,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you sent a Bitmoji to someone and they received a photo from your library instead, and we'd like to assist. It's hard to say exactly why this occurred. We recommend restarting your iPhone and updating iOS if you have any available updates. Then try sending the same Bitmoji to the same contact to see if the issue persists.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care.
