Apple Cash fails to verify my ID
I have been using Apple Cash for a few years or so without any problems. I recently received a small amount of money (less than $20) but the money was not automatically added to my account. When I tried to add it manually I was notified that I first needed to verify my ID. I went through the procedure, including the photos of the front and back of my driver license, but verification failed. I retried multiple times. All failed. I contacted Support and was forwarded to an Apple Cash support person. He said to transfer my balance to my bank account, leaving me with a zero balance in my Apple Cash account, and then try verifying my ID. I tried a couple days later but it still failed. I contacted Support again and was forwarded to an Apple Cash support person. I tried everything she suggested but without success. We deleted my Apple Cash card and recreated it. She deleted my Apple Cash account and then recreated it. Nothing worked. She said she was going to have to refer my case to a support specialist and she gave me a case number.
My nephew has the same issue with not being able to verify his ID. Besides our last name being the same, we have two things in common. We both have Ohio driver licenses, but not the same version. Mine is the secure ID version and his is the young driver version. The other thing we have in common is that we have suffixes on our last names -- mine is III and his is JR. I'm wondering if the software that is supposed to verify one's identity is unable to process the suffix or maybe the location of the suffix on the driver license. The suffix is on the same line with my first and middle names, not on the line with my last name.
