Final Cut Pro Version 10.6 Errror - The XML document could not be imported. DTD version is not recognized.

Hey, so my Final Cut Pro recently automatically upgraded to the new 10.6 version and now I'm facing issues importing my normal synced video files from PluralEyes 4. It keeps giving me the error "The XML document could not be imported. DTD version is not recognized."

I'm assuming that the new 10.6 patch notes saying "Updates FCPXML to version 1.10 with new bundle format." has something to do with my import not being recognized anymore. Maybe I need to go and downgrade it from version 1.10 to version 1.09 if thats what the previous version was?

I never faced this issue till it upgraded to 10.6, if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.

So I found the solution after spending a long time looking for it.

Open your xml on a editor text and change the version of Final Cut to a actually version.

For example:

My xml had the 1.4 version and I edited it to <fcpxml version="1.10">

After change save and it's done!

Maxon promises an update soon but it turns out to be incompatible for those who work with weddings, the solution they present on the site doesn't work for me, in the davinci software it also resolves I can't import. Using 3 cameras and 3 sound recorders is complicated to synchronize manually or through the tools built into the final cut itself. While there is no solution I bought a license for the syncaila software for 6 months and I am enjoying it at first I will give up on pluraleyes.

where are you downloading an older fcpx from?

I am not PNTDXTR, but I think I can answer that question: if one has Time Machine, it is only a matter of navigating back to a point in time before the latest updates, and restore 10.5.4; or, better yet, as I do before every update, one could have made a zip of 10.5.4 for safekeeping.

It is perfectly all right to have more than one version of the application.

I have Final Cut Pro at the current version, and have also the 10.5.4, merely renamed as "Final Cut Pro 10.5.4" and sitting right there in the Applications folder, not even in a separate one.

Hi all,

Has anyone managed to resolve this? It's causing me a lot of headache as I have to use my wife's laptop to open the PluralEyes XML into FCPX (not upgraded to 10.6), once the library opens, I can transfer the library to my MacBook Pro and then I can work the file- it's just a bit of effort for something that worked seamless before... any help appreciated.

Hi, I have an exact same problem here. Spent hours trying to figure this out yet whenever I have "CAPTION" in my project, it seems XML (FCPXML, and now apparently it is FCPXML with D at the end) collapses with my newly updated FCP.

I have deleted my entire program and re-downloaded. I wish I could down-grade since the most important function is missing.

I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out. Great thanks!

Thank you so much for trying to help me out here! It's not even a new version of FCPXMLD, it's FCPXML and yet I still cannot open it, followed by;

The XML document sent from application “Final Cut Pro” could not be imported.

DTD validation failed. (The data couldn’t be read because it isn’t in the correct format.)

I have just heard from one of tech guy, 10.6 is buggy meanwhile Apple is aware of it and promises a fix. (So finger crossed!)

Thank you so much!

Major Issues:

Anything that appears on this list needs immediate attention.

Adware - Adware detected.

Unsigned files - There are unsigned software files installed that could be adware and should be reviewed.

Adware:

Launchd: /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.distlkd.plist

Executable: /Library/distlkd/distlkd

Reason: Adware pattern match

Unsigned Files:

Launchd: /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.CvuNU.plist

Executable: /Library/zN83B/INomP

Details: Domain name invalid - possibly adware

Launchd: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.SearchUp.plist

Executable: ~/Library/Application Support/com.SearchUp/SearchUp

Details: Domain name invalid - possibly adware

Launchd: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.rp2.plist

Executable: ~/Library/rp2/rp2

Launchd: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.DateCheck.plist

Executable: ~/Library/DateCheck/DateCheck.app/Contents/MacOS/DateCheck

Details: Domain name invalid - possibly adware

Launchd: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.distlk.plist

Executable: ~/Library/distlk/distlk

Details: Domain name invalid - possibly adware

Launchd: /Library/LaunchAgents/com.catachthonian.ia.plist

Executable: /Library/catachthonian.ia/catachthonian.ia.app/Contents/MacOS/catachthonian.ia

Details: Domain name invalid - possibly adware

So some stuff that are know to be adware, plus other that might also be.

Run Etrecheck again, and follow the instructions to remove.

In addition, you also have Chrome and its "keystone" cronies:

User Launch Agents:

(...)

[Loaded] com.google.keystone.agent.plist (Google, Inc. - installed 2021-08-24)

[Loaded] com.google.keystone.xpcservice.plist (Google, Inc. - installed 2021-08-24)

Read up on https://chromeisbad.com for why they are bad and how to remove.

After removing Chrome and the keystone things it is necessary to delete FCP and download a new copy from the App Store.
