Using Migration Assistant

When I try to use Migration Assistant to transfer data from MacBook Air (Mid2013) to new MacBook Air using Time Machine ver 11.6 I get the popup that Selected backup created with macOS 11.6. Recommend update before migration. Responses are Update / Skip.

Since the OS on the older macBook is 11.6 already, is this referring to an update of Migration assistant?

Using Migration Assistant, how can I choose which backup to restore, like I was able to with the old Time Machine interface (where the "Restore" button is now greyed out)? I use a QNAP NAS for a TimeMachine; in Migration Assistant, I never get list of backups, why? I use a QNAP NAS for a TimeMachine; when in Recovery Mode I can connect to NAS and see list of backups, but I can't use them, I am told to Reinstall OS and use Migration Assistant to restore. But once in Migration Assistant, after authenticating I never get list of backups, why? I have the same problem with an older Mac Mini and a 2017 MBP, both with Monterrey. QNAP NAS is running 4.3.3, and I upgraded to latest HBS3 backup software.

No. It is referring to the OS. Just pick update.
