Unknown Bluetooth connection on my phone
I happened to look at my Bluetooth device list on my iPhone and a “Ty” appeared on my list. I don’t know anyone or own any devices that I’ve named “ Ty”, what I do?
iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 15

If you see this under "MY DEVICES" you can first see whether it is "connected" or "not connected." Either way, you can tap the blue "i" and then select "Forget This Device" to remove it from the"MY DEVICES" list.
If you see this under "OTHER DEVICES" it is not connected to your phone. This just indicates that there is another Bluetooth device somewhere that is discoverable. It cannot connect to your phone unless you specifically connect it to whatever the device is. Its not unlike seeing many Wi-Fi network names when you open the Wi-Fi menu - they are not connected but your phone detects that they are active.
For those who are saying that they don't have any Tuya devices, the Tuya App, or the Smart Life App, you probably do and are unaware.
Tuya not only manufactures products under their own brand, but they also manufacture products for the vast majority of brands in the home automation industry, with the exception of some of the premium brands (Phillips Hue etc).
In addition to manufacturing products for other brands, they also license the use of their technology and software platform to these brands as well.
Here in Australia, some of the brands that use Tuya, include: Arlec/DETA Grid Connect (sold through Bunnings), Mirabella Genio (K-Mart, Woolworths), Brilliant (Bunnings, Lighting Stores), Connect Smart (Harvey Norman), and Orion (Bunnings). That is only a few but there are literally tens of thousands of brands globally. Most of these brands will hide their Tuya association and rebrand the app so it appears to be unique, but under the covers it is just the same app. This means that the vast majority of these products and apps are cross compatible.
So if you don't have any Tuya branded products, but are still having the bluetooth issue that started this thread, it is because you have a smart product/s in your home that works on the Tuya platform.
If you do some digging around online, you will be staggered at just how many brands use Tuya rather than developing their own system.
I hope this helps.
Hi. I have an unknown Device listed as connected in my iPhone Bluetooth listing. It does not have a blue i so I cannot get information or instruct the phone to disregard this device.
the device is identified as: s179e775bd446c9c9C.
I drove a few blocks from home and turned off my Bluetooth and turned it back on and it still showed this device as being connected. so I’m thinking it’s connected to my car but my car already has a connection listed in the iPhone Bluetooth listing. There are no other devices in my car.
any thoughts?
Thank you for this. I had 3 TY connections in my bluetooth page and this helped get rid of them. It makes me very suspicious about what Bluetooth data Smart Life had access to though.
I have the same issue but mine does not show the "I" next to the TY Bluetooth but its showing its connected. I'm not quite sure what to do as I'm not sure what or who TY is.
Nvm figured it out
I don’t have the smart life app or anything labeled tuya i don’t know what to do to get rid of it any help ?
How did you figure it out???
