synchronising photos and iCloud
My photos have stopped synchronising to my Mac. I've checked and rechecked the settings for photos and iCloud and all are correct. I have a MacBook Air that is synchronising perfectly but not my Mac.

Good. That means the library is the current system library. Try logging in and out. Your library may also be corrupt. You could simply create a new library, make it the system library, and enable iCloud photos (assuming everything is in iCloud) and the library will download/rebuild.
I'll try logging out of iCloud, i did do this but I'll try again. Thanks. If that doesn't work I'll create a new library. Thanks heaps for your advice.
Do you have the system library set correctly?
Photos > preferences > general
Ensure that the library is the system library
Otherwise, try signing out and back in to iCloud.
The 'use as System Photo Library' is greyed out?
Logging off didn't work but creating a new Library worked a treat. Thanks for your help.
